about

Tatiana Painting
Based in Paris
Inspired by the World

Tatiana de Nicolay is an illustrator and designer whose work begins with the hand: original paintings, delicate lines, and a refined sense of detail. Each piece is developed as artwork first, then thoughtfully adapted into objects and materials that belong in everyday life, from textiles and rugs to glassware and bespoke interiors.

She began her career in India with Manish Arora and Tarun Tahiliani, where she discovered the artistry of embroidery and the language of ornament. She later worked in London with Cabana, developing the brand’s first art de la table projects and refining an editorial approach to interiors and objects.

Illustrator,
Designer, Mother, Traveler

As a mother and entrepreneur, Tatiana approaches her life and work as a seamless continuum. Raised by a mother who navigated the rigorous world of Parisian fashion, she possesses a deeply ingrained understanding of the modern working woman's rhythm. Today, raising her own son is not a pause in her career, but a vital source of creative energy.

Now established in Paris, she leads her independent studio with the same intentionality she brings to her family. Her portfolio is a testament to rich narrative and exceptional craft, featuring art direction for Christie’s fine jewelry auctions, fashion collaborations with Le Bon Marché, and award-winning carpets with ELLE EDIDA award created with Jaipur Rugs.

She treats every project much like she does her own home. It is a living, evolving environment, guided from the initial watercolor sketch to the final exquisite detail with both warmth and absolute precision.

An Interior That Tells Stories

In Tatiana’s hands, interior decoration becomes another storytelling medium. In her 16th arrondissement apartment, she builds a layered “winter garden” atmosphere through botanical motifs, bold wallpapers, green accents, and collected objects that carry memory, from flea market discoveries to inherited treasures. Her home also showcases her collaborations in context, with textiles created alongside Maison Thevenon and rugs of her own design developed with Jaipur Rugs, transforming daily life into a setting for craft, travel, and imagination.
