Garden of Paradise

Glassware Design | Summer 2019

“On Lobmeyr’s featherlight glass, I drew birds perched on fine branches, creating a soft, delicate world where each piece is unique.”

Created with Lobmeyr, Garden of Paradise translates Tatiana de Nicolay’s delicate watercolor language onto the iconic Alpha tumblers, originally designed by Hans Harald Rath in 1952. The collaboration pairs Viennese clarity and restraint with a beautiful birds sitting on botanical branches, turning them into a quietly narrative object for the table.

Painted by hand, each drawing feels like a fragment of an untouched landscape: flowering stems, perched birds, and light, airy color that seems to float on the glass. Conceived as an ode to purity and clear water, the series invites a slower ritual, a gentle reminder that beauty and refinement can also carry a sense of care for the natural world.
