Diptyque
presented in September 2019 its first selection of home objects in a chic bazaar-style pop-up located opposite the Tuileries in Paris called
Le Bazar de Diptyque. This brought together nearly 300 objects created by craftsmen in small factories around the world (blankets from the Alpine spinning
Arpin, rattan mirrors from
Atelier Vime from their workshop in Provence, ceramics from the Italian house
Laboratorio Paravicini etc. ) or smaller series by the brand's closest collaborators (cushions and printed boxes by
Antoinette Poisson, pyjamas with dreamlike patterns by artist
Pierre Marie, plates by the painter
Julien Colombier.) curated by Isabelle Dubern-Mallevays:
Diptyque’s Lifestyle Artistic Director for this first collection.
I had the opportunity to collaborate with the French brand on designing two beautiful handmade fans made by
Duvelleroy, a set of tumblers and a pitcher by the Viennese glass manufacturer
Lobmeyr
and finally sets of correspondence cards. I used watercolour and made everything by hand.
The items were inspired by the brand’s founders passion for travels. In the 1960s, they travelled around the Mediterranean with expeditions to the heart of unexplored places: Troy, Delphi, Olympia, Mycenae, Epidaurus… after so much discovery they ultimately found their favourite place: “the place where you feel most yourself”: Mount Pelion.
